Fear of Impending Sickness

Hello Everybody,

I hope you all had a good last week. My week has been really interesting. I had started to feel better and go to work. On my first day back, I learned that Microsoft was requiring employees to get tested for tuberculosis because of an employee being diagnosed with it. So, I went to the hospital and got tested and told them I had pneumonia. I also told them what hospital I had my tests run at so they could get anything they need. I then returned to work until Wednesday when I got a call being told the doctor was worried that I had TB and I had to do further testing and I wasn’t allowed to go to work until they were done. It’s annoying, but understandable. I only hope the tests go quickly so I can return to work soon.

With all of this tuberculosis testing it’s been interesting to compare to everything happening with the corona virus. The fears have continued to spread making quite the impact. I find it fascinating to see how different companies are reacting to and dealing with it. Microsoft has begun to implement changes as well. My work will be going through different changes to help stop the spread of corona virus. Game design can be a place that leads to sickness more so than other industries. We are often sharing items or interacting closely together. We try to keep stations clean, but still we find ourselves in bouts of illness. In my office we have had waves of the flu and other illness’s. My recommendations would be to use hand sanitizer frequently and cleaning your workstation.

Well till next week you guys. I hope you have a good week and that I can tell you something fun.

Sickness Versus Progress

Hello Everybody,

I’m sorry for not posting last week. These last two weeks have been a bit difficult for me as I’ve been sick and unable to do anything. It seems when I had the flu a month ago it weakened my immune system. This led to a really bad cold which then developed into pneumonia. I hate missing this much work, but sadly nothing can be done. I’m luckily almost all better I just have to finish the medicine I have. I’ll be returning to work and have to catch up on everything I’ve missed. I’m curious to see how my body will deal with being more active at work. Hopefully, I’ll be fine, but I’ll definitely be keeping it simple and using hand sanitizer more.

One of the worst parts of sickness is being unable or lacking the energy to do anything. I wish when I was sick, I was still able to work on my hobbies. I think that when sick it’s important to take care of yourself and others. As I’ve mentioned in my previous blog posts where I was sick. Taking care of yourself is very important, but it also means you can’t or shouldn’t work on anything. So, I spent most of the week watching TV and getting caught up on my shows. I’m ready to be in a better position to keep making progress on side projects and work.

Well till next time you guys. I hope to have something better to tell you next week.

Dealing with Sickness

Hello Everybody,

I hope you guys have had a good week. My week was not great. I was super sick for the entire week, but luckily, I’m nearly better now. In recent years I’ve hated being sick and unable to attend work or school. If I felt I could go to work or school despite being sick I would try, I still do for the most part. However, I’ve also grown more cognizant of when I should and should not do that. It may show dedication to try and go to work while feeling horrible, however, it also shows dedication to realizing that you shouldn’t be working and getting other people sick. That being said I still hate missing work, it just doesn’t feel right.

I’m not one to get really sick very frequently. With previous projects I very rarely had to take time off. I always would try and strategize around sickness and figure out how I could handle it with work. With previous projects I would work from home if I felt well enough. I would lay out the work I needed to get done then be in communication with my coworkers. When I worked as a tour guide, I would avoid work or get a desk job where I didn’t interact with people, but that only happened once. With my current work I’m planning how I’m going to return and figure out what I’ve missed. I’ll have a lot of stuff to catch up on and a lot of process changes to familiarize myself with. I’m ready to be back at work.

Well till next week you guys. I hope you have a good week and I hope to have an update for you next week.

Return of the Sickness

Hello Everybody,

I hope you all have had a good week. My week has been fairly interesting. Work was fun and I’ve enjoyed meeting my new coworkers. This weekend has been good as well and I spent most of it in family birthday parties. I had a lot of fun prepping for these family parties including a second attempt at a mirror glaze cake. The second attempt came out really well. The mousse layer froze perfectly making a smooth surface and the glaze was able cover the cake beautifully. I had separated the glaze into four parts in order to color them differently. When I mixed the colors together and poured them over the cake it gave it a nice marble-esque appearance. The only part that didn’t turn out well was the frozen jam layer. The jam hadn’t frozen quite fully so the jam was falling off. Otherwise the cake turned out beautifully.

The rest of my week I spent sick. On Monday I had attempted to go to work despite feeling not great and after two hours at work I went home. I was unable to focus and wasn’t wanting to spread my sickness. I then stayed home for the next two days before returning to work on Thursday. I don’t know how I got sick whether it was from a coworker or due to my mom being sick as well. I just know I couldn’t go to work and when I came back, I found out that sickness had spread across my office like a plague. I returned to hear that the two days I had been out the office had been practically a ghost town. It’s amazing how much a sickness can spread in an office, but luckily, I healed quickly and only missed a few days. My mom, however, was sick practically the whole week. She at least has benefit of being able to work from home unlike me.

Well till next week you guys. I hope you have a great week and I hope to have some good stories for next week.

Sick Week and Game Night

Hello Everybody,

I hope you guys had a good week that fulfilled a need of yours. My week was very quick because I was sick for part of it. I got a touch of a stomach bug or something and was just not feeling good for two days then I had lingering effects for the next two days. It was weird being sick and taking time off of work it reminded me of being in school. I haven’t been sick and had to take time off of my day to day in a long time. Even in college I was rarely ever sick and only took a few days off. One time I was sent home from work at school due to me being sick and unable to talk. In high school I got sick a lot more due to my anxiety disorder and not knowing how to deal with it. Senior year I had learned how to deal with it more with the help of therapy and other strategies I had learned. In college I had gotten a lot better at managing my anxiety and now I still deal with it but now I have many tools to deal with it.

After I started feeling better, we decided to have a game night. I enjoy game nights and hanging out with my family friends. We played some party games and then two of the people there are going to play D&D with me so we discussed their plans. It was a lot of fun to hangout and play different games. We ate good food and had a lot of great jokes. I hope to have more game nights in the future and maybe we’ll try different games and find more big party games. I have some ideas and will be happy to find them. I’m also excited to host them at my own apartment in the future.

Well till next week you guys. I hope you guys have a good week and I hope to have some good stuff to discuss with you.

President's Day Relaxation

Hello my friends,

I hope you guys had an amazing week. My week was kind of meh. I spent the entire week sick which really hurt my productivity, luckily, I’m at the tale end of my sickness so I should be able to boost my productivity. I’m going to begin learning some new skills and working more in engine with side projects. I’m looking forward to resuming my own personal side projects as well. I’m hoping to keep moving towards getting a job as well. I’ll also begin updating my website again. I want to write more and edit my older stories. I feel that it would be a great way for me to improve my chances of getting a job if I have my portfolio constantly growing. At this point I will continue to go down all avenues to improve myself and my own project goals.

This weekend was nice. I got to relax and rest without being stressed. On Saturday I beat Kingdom Hearts 3. I enjoyed the game a lot and I’m curious to see what the future has for the series. I’ve heard a lot of differing opinions about the game. My opinion is based off being a recent fan of the series, but I’ve noticed people that were fans for years and waited for a decade dislike the game. It could be due to the game not living up to expectations or I’m easy to please. I may write a review on the game I just need to dedicate the time to it. On Sunday I participated in Harry Potter trivia. It was a lot of fun, but sadly I’m not as up to date on my Harry Potter knowledge. My team sadly did relatively poorly and we got I believe 8th place out of 15. It was fun just a little annoying to learn how little I know. Then today was President’s Day which was a great day for me and my mom to hang out and spend sometime together. It was nice as we never get the chance to hangout.

Well til next week my friends. I hope you all have a great week and that I can bring you all exciting news next week.

Winter Wonderland in Seattle

Hello my friends,

I apologize for my late posting I’m a little sick and completely forgot yesterday. I hope you all are doing well. My week has been decent apart from getting sick. I sold a bunch of my cards on eBay so today I’m shipping them out. I finished a project I was working on so now you can go and buy Tales of Mahabharata on Steam. If you do you’ll have full access to the core game we released late last year and the free expansion that adds the war to the game. I’m very proud of the game and I’m excited to see how it does. I’m hoping to start seeing more reviews on Steam so that I have more feedback to help grow from. So please check it out and let us know what you think.

The past week has also been strange due to the winter storm in Seattle right now. This is the most snow I have ever seen in Seattle and it’s going to keep snowing. Typically we maybe get an inch or two where I live, but as of right now it’s about a foot deep. This probably means it’s going to be a hot summer which in Seattle can be very bad. Many older homes in Seattle don’t have A/C as it wasn’t needed, but now summers are getting into the hundreds which can be bad. With climate change going on we have been seeing more and more of these rapid and extreme changes. In Florida it meant I had more hurricanes. In Washington it means the weather will go from very cold to very warm. I love snow, but most people in Seattle are not ready for this amount. Hopefully, people are staying safe and warm.

Well til next week my friends! I hope you guys have a wonderful week and stay safe. I hope to have more good news next time!

Funeral and Smoke

Hello my friends,

I hope you all had a great week. My week was very interesting. For the most part I spent my week working on my side projects, job hunting, and D&D world. However, over the weekend my week got stranger. I had two major events that happened. On Saturday was the funeral for my Uncle Chris. The funeral was very touching. I was happy to see the family members I haven’t seen in years. There were also many stories that were told about his adventures across the nation. We also had tons of good food at the funeral. The other interesting thing that happened was I got exposed to a lot of smoke.

So to clarify the smoke was not from a fire and nothing was damaged. So, Saturday morning I awoke to my dads house being filled with smoke. My bed is in the loft area of the house over the living room and kitchen. The house was filled with smoke because of what my dad was cooking for the funeral. What he had been cooking in the oven overnight overflowed into the oven and began to burn. I have no concept of how long I was in the smoke, but it has made me sick for the past few days. I went to the doctors office today and they told me I should be fine I just need to rest. Hopefully, I heal quickly and don’t catch anything else.

Well till next week you guys! I hope you guys have an awesome week and I hope to have more news for you all.

PAX and the PAX Pox

Hello my friends!

I hope you guys are doing great! I apologize for not posting last week. PAX was amazing but kept me very busy. Another thing that happened was I got sick and am still sick. Luckily I'm not super sick it's only a bad cold. It's just a pain in the butt and making it harder to do stuff. It just reminded me of the need to bring hand sanitizer. Even though I got sick I had an awesome time.

PAX was a blast. I was lucky enough to be invited to help out with a booth for a company named Ybryd Games. They're a small indie publisher for games titled YIIK, World of Horror, She Remembered Caterpillars, and Va-ll Hall-a. It was awesome to help them out. The only downside was the week of 12 hour long days. Those were countered by the great people and the exhibitor pass I had. These all helped me greatly when it came to networking with people and exploring the show floor. I played all sorts of games and got to expand the list of game companies I'd like to apply to. Hopefully, I'll be able to get guidance from my new compatriots that I met at the con.

Well till next time you guys! I hope you have continued health and success. Next time we'll chat hopefully I'll be all better.
